The Custodian I position is an entry-level role involving a range of cleaning tasks, from light to heavy, either independently or as part of a team. Under close supervision, employees receive detailed instructions for routine custodial duties. It is essential to adhere to safety protocols and use the appropriate equipment and supplies to fulfill job responsibilities. Prompt reporting of fire, sanitary, and safety hazards, as well as repair needs, to the immediate supervisor is required.

Responsibilities General custodial duties include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, and restocking paper and soap supplies in bathrooms, offices, entrances, classrooms, and hallways. Routine maintenance of custodial equipment and supplies is also expected to ensure functionality and longevity.

Qualifications The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma or equivalent qualification. They possess proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, and facilities management software, demonstrating strong computer literacy. They can comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, write simple correspondence, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings to customers and colleagues.

The successful candidate will believe in and support the student‑first philosophy while contributing to the overall success of Baker College, acting as a positive role model and brand ambassador on and off campus.
