CAMP COUNSELOR – FRANKE PARK DAY CAMP

Enjoy working with kids? Love being outdoors? Looking for a meaningful summer job? Join the Franke Park Day Camp team and help create a safe, fun, and engaging environment for campers while building leadership and outdoor education skills.
What You'll Do Camp Counselors work directly with youth ages 4–17, delivering outdoor education and कुनैajien detailed daily activities while ensuring camper safety and positive experiences. 天音
Welcome campers and parents; explain programs and daily activities
Supervise and engage campers throughout the day
Teach crafts, games, and outdoor skillsLead hikes, group games, and camp ceremonies
Teach environmental ethicsfed, equipment care, and weather observation
Assist with fire building, outdoor cooking, and food preparation/cleanup
Prepare daily activities and attend required training sessions
Meet with supervisors for daily feedback and evaluation
Follow all City safety rules, policies, and procedures
Other duties may be assigned.
What 'We're Looking For
High school diploma or GED required
Childcare or teaching experience preferred, not required
College students studying education or related fields encouraged to apply
Willingness to learn basic camping and outdoor education skills
Strong communication skills and a professional, positive attitude
Ability to work effectively with staff, campers, parents, and the public
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to hike or walk 3–5 miles per day over uneven terrain
Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs
Work performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Standing, walking, and light lifting required throughout the day
Certifications Required for Continued Employment
Valid Indiana Driver's License if operating a City vehicle
First Aid, CPR, and AED certification within two weeks of employment (Training provided by the City of Fort Wayne Risk Management Department)
