REPORTS TO : Reports to the President of Varitec Solutions

Purpose of this position Varitec Solutions, LLC is hiring an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to support all of our locations. We have offices in: Phoenix, Tucson, El Paso and Albuquerque. This position will be in our Phoenix office. In this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and executing policies, procedures and programs to enhance workflow and ensure legal, regulatory and safety compliance. Duties and Responsibilities

Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company

Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety and other relevant topics

Monitors compliance with safety procedures

Conduct regular safety and environmental inspections and audits of facilities and equipment to identify and address hazards and risks

Responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of certain EHS policies, procedures, and training programs

Maintain chemical management documentation, new equipment, and approval process

Monitor and analyze EHS data, trends, and metrics to identify areas of improvement and implementation of necessary corrective actions

Preparation of EHS reports and presentations as delegated

Lead EHS committees and teams to drive continuous improvement

Assist in new employee orientation training

Assist site supervisors in investigations of incidents and severe incidents to prevent recurrence

Conduct risk assessments and recommend risk mitigation strategies

Provide EHS technical support and drive site specific initiative and projects

Promote Daikin’s goal of zero accidents, emissions, etc.

Responsible for workers compensation, OSHA Logs, OSHA 300A postings, etc.

Assign Safety Training, OSHA 30 to applicable employees

Responsible for PPE for safety sensitive positions

Establish policies and procedures to identify and address risks in the organization’s services and departments.

Review and assess risk management policies and protocols; makes recommendations and implements modifications and improvements.

Recommends and implements risk management solutions such as insurance, safety and security policies, business continuity plans, or recovery measures.

Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations and industry best practices

Create and manage measurable metrics to manage safety in case of any future audits. This will be managed and shared with each locations primary leadership and/or remediation action owners.

Manage company’s vehicle fleet, including acquisition, negotiation, compliance, and end of life disposal

The list of duties is not exhaustive and will evolve over time in collaboration between the employee and Varitec leadership.

Perform other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have any direct supervisor responsibilities of other employees.

Physical Responsibilities

Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with related background in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health or related field desirable preferred

A minimum 3+ years of practical environmental health and safety management experience.

Background in applying safety principles within a service or construction industry preferred

Excellent computers skills are a must. This includes a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and other industry accepted software platforms.

General knowledge of OSHA, EPA, MSHA, DOT, as appropriate.

Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 24 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations.

Ability to motivate, engage and influence others.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including written and verbal skills.

Demonstrated ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction and strategy.

Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills, and ability to work in a team environment.

Experience with Microsoft Office, Work Excel, Powerpoint, SmartSheets, etc required

Comfortable working with field technicians, presenting training material to large audiences, as well as communicating with leaders in the organization.

Working Conditions and Environment – Safety Sensitive This position requires some level of travel. Routine visits to construction jobsites, customer offices, and Varitec’s remote offices is expected.
