Your Role in Action – Key Responsibilities

As the Business Development Representative for our U.S. operations, you will play a pivotal role in expanding market presence, building meaningful client relationships, identifying new opportunities, and driving revenue growth.
This role focuses on strategic growth across key public sector verticals, including Healthcare, Justice, Local Government, and Police. It is ideal for a self‑motivated professional who thrives on creating value through innovative solutions, improving outcomes for clients, and strengthening the communities they serve.
Lead Generation & Market Research
Research and identify prospective public‑sector organizations, agencies, and stakeholders across target sectors.
Map procurement structures, buying cycles, and key decision‑makers to support outreach and account planning.
Monitor public‑sector bid portals, RFP listings, and market intelligence sources to identify upcoming opportunities.
Opportunity Qualification & Pipeline Support
Conduct outbound outreach via email, phone, and LinkedIn to introduce thebigword’s services and qualify interest.
Assess opportunities against qualification criteria and pass well‑qualified leads to the Business Development Manager.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of activities, leads, and opportunities within the CRM system.
Sales & Bid Support
Support RFP, RFI, and bid preparation by gathering background information, coordinating documentation, and tracking deadlines.
Assist with partner research and early‑stage engagement for strategic or consortium‑based bids.
Prepare briefing materials, meeting notes, and follow‑up actions for client and partner meetings.
Relationship Development & Brand Representation
Act as an initial point of contact for prospective clients and partners, representing thebigword professionally and consistently.
Support the Business Development Manager in preparing for meetings, presentations, and industry events.
Sale Cycle Support & Management
Support the sales cycle by coordinating follow‑ups, scheduling meetings, and helping move opportunities from initial contact through qualification and hand‑over.
Track pipeline activity in the CRM, prepare sales materials, and flag risks or delays to help keep opportunities on track toward close.

Proven Business Development Success:
Demonstrated experience driving new business growth in the U.S. market, ideally across healthcare, justice, local government, or law enforcement sectors.
Public Sector Procurement Expertise:
Strong understanding of U.S. public‑sector procurement processes, including navigating government contracts, RFPs, and complex buying cycles.
Relationship & Stakeholder Management:
Exceptional ability to build trusted relationships, influence senior decision‑makers, and engage stakeholders across multiple organizational levels.
Clear & Persuasive Communication:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver compelling presentations, demonstrations, and sales pitches to internal and external audiences.
Results‑Oriented Mindset:
Highly driven with a consistent focus on meeting and exceeding sales targets, pipeline goals, and revenue objectives while maintaining strong client relationships.
Language Services Experience (Preferred, not required):
Experience within the language services industry is advantageous but not required.
