Summary To assist the head coach in fostering an environment where academic integrity, social responsibility, respect for others, and competitive athletic excellence are highly valued. As well as helping and developing well rounded individuals both on and off the athletic arena.
Responsibilities
Assist in organizing, developing, and supervising the assigned level of the program, including practices, games, team travel, locker room management, and summer/off-season programs.
Support the head coach in establishing and maintaining open, ongoing communication with administration, athletes, and parents. Foster strong partnerships with school administration, fellow coaches, the community, and the athletic department to support the overall success of the school.
Assist in implementing procedures to support skill development for all participants, including a thorough evaluation process to ensure proper placement at the appropriate level. This also includes developing and overseeing off-season workout plans.
Support fundraising efforts to help meet the program’s operational and developmental needs.
Collaborate with the head coach and assistant coaches to develop and implement expectations and standards for the athletic program.
Follow all CHSAA and Boulder Valley School District guidelines, ensuring full compliance with district policies, CHSAA by-laws, and sport-specific CHSAA bulletins by understanding, adhering to, and enforcing all applicable regulations.
Assist in monitoring athletes’ attendance, behavior, and academic performance to support their overall success and eligibility.
Possess basic knowledge of the signs and symptoms of major injuries, including concussions, and the ability to administer approved first-aid procedures, CPR, and AED use. Collaborate with the athletic trainer to ensure proper implementation of return-to-play protocols and adherence to any medical limitations.
Assist in maintaining accurate, up-to-date records of all equipment and uniforms, and ensure timely completion of assigned administrative tasks.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
Must be 21 years of age, or older.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Complete and submitted BVSD online application.
Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.
Must complete CPR/First Aid/AED, annual concussion training, mental health, CHSAA test and activity specific rules prior to working with student-athletes.
Discernible knowledge of the specific sport.
Previous coaching and/or playing experience in the specific sport.
Knowledge of all aspects of senior high school athletic/activity programming.
Proven leadership qualities and successful experience in working with high school students.
