Agency Summary Bellefaire JCB is among the nation’s largest, most experienced child service agencies providing a variety of mental health, substance abuse, education, and prevention services. Bellefaire JCB helps more than 43,000 youth and their families yearly achieve resiliency, dignity and self-sufficiency through its more than 25 programs, including the Intensive Treatment Program.

The Intensive Treatment Program is a co‑ed therapeutic residential treatment program for youth, ages 8 through 17, with significant mental‑health and psychiatric needs. The program provides a safe, secure home‑like setting where their path toward healing can begin.

The Intensive Treatment Program specializes in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)—a cognitive behavioral treatment approach that emphasizes the development of four skill sets: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance.

Job Summary Under the direct supervision of Bellefaire JCB’s Executive Director, the Chief Medical Officer is responsible for the direction and oversight of all subordinate medical directors. The Chief Medical Officer oversees the overall provision of oversight for psychiatric and medical services, inclusive of nursing, delivered by others within Bellefaire JCB and its supported agencies. Additionally, as Medical Director for the PRTF, the Chief Medical Officer will provide all medical direction, psychiatric care and leadership for the PRTF.

Essential Duties

Provide the direct clinical oversight of Bellefaire psychiatric providers and psychiatric nurse practitioners throughout the Bellefaire enterprise.

Deliver high‑quality, direct psychiatric care to residents of the PRTF. Additionally, provide such psychiatric care to residents and clients throughout the Bellefaire enterprise as appropriate.

Provide medical leadership specific to the PRTF for purposes of interplay with payers, outside agencies, referral sources and other entities internal and external to Bellefaire.

Provide collaborative support and oversight to all Bellefaire medical directors of psychiatric and medical services. Provide appropriate guidance as needed for coding, diagnosing, treating and creating appropriate documentation.

Supervise and direct the nursing function in accordance with best‑care practices and in alignment with residential leadership.

Ensure consistent support, guidance and medical expertise for all areas and leadership throughout the Agency.

Maintain appropriate and compliant documentation of all clients.

Continuously develop and establish best‑practice standards for psychiatric and medical care.

Participate in outreach to the community to introduce and establish community contacts with aligned practice and outreach organizations.

Provide support, guidance and insight to the Bellefaire senior leadership team.

Establish, review, and develop all medical and psychiatric policies and procedures for Bellefaire JCB.

Other Duties

Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on‑going training.

All required training, certifications and licensures must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.

Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment. All client‑related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.

Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.

Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education: Board certified Psychiatrist required. Must also be board certified in child and adolescent psychiatry and/or successful experience in the practice and management of child and adolescent psychiatry.

Licensure: Licensed to practice medicine by the State of Ohio. Licensed to prescribe psychotropic medication by the DEA.

Experience

3+ years of pediatric psychiatry experience required

At least one year experience serving as medical director of inpatient pediatric unit/s preferred

Experience with autism spectrum disorder required
