Position Highlights
Anticipated start date in May 2026, ending by August 31, 2026
Monday – Friday, 8‑hour days (40 hours per week)
Temporary position (not eligible for benefits or paid holidays)
Location: Newington, CT
Minimum Qualifications for This Role
A driver’s license is required.
Enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Landscape Architecture, completing at least the sophomore year by May 2026.
Applicants invited to interview must provide a copy of a college transcript.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience or coursework in the principles, techniques, and practices of landscape architecture.
Experience or coursework in community outreach and public involvement.
Experience or coursework in green infrastructure and climate resilience.
Experience or coursework in CAD software and drafting techniques. Experience or coursework in graphic communication and visualization software.
Experience or coursework in landscape architecture site sähkö analysis.
Experience or coursework in horticulture and plant identification.
Experience or coursework in the use of UAS drone technology in design and construction.
About the Role Interns will work under the supervision of licensed Landscape Architects and gain hands‑on experience in the life cycle of transportation projects. The internship provides exposure to design development, construction implementation, field travel, and collaboration with planners, engineers, and other DOT staff. Candidates will learn to use MicroStation, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and additional tools.
Duties
Prepare landscape design components of transportation projects, including planting designs, specifications, and construction details for contract plans.
Participate in field work with the Landscape Design Unit staff.
Develop CAD‑generated landscape plans and details.
Produce visual graphics.
Assist in other project development and management tasks.
