Pre/Post Area Responsibilities Assesses/reassesses patients and applies the nursing process to:
Cardiac Monitoring
Care of patients pre/post interventional cardiac procedures
Care of patients with vascular closure devices: application, maintenance, removal
Maintain/Pull arterial and/or venous sheaths
ACT machine use
Angioseal/Vasoseal
Minimal sedation and moderate sedation with safety guidelines
Assist with transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) using safety guidelines
Perform “bubble” method when assisting with TEE
Pain management and follow-up pain reassessment
Blood draws with appropriate order‑of‑the‑draw
IV therapy and infusion of blood products
Information management
Synchronized cardioversion
ICD and pacemaker pre/post care and recovery
Procedural Area Responsibilities Assesses/reassesses patients and applies the nursing process to:
Care of and/or recovery of patients pre/post interventional cardiac procedures
Care of and/or recovery of patients pre/post electrophysiology procedures
Care of and/or recovery of patients pre/post interventional radiology procedures
Care of patients with vascular closure devices: application, maintenance, removal and post care
Assist with vascular procedures, including IVC filters, run‑offs, acute and chronic occlusions
Maintain/Pull arterial and/or venous sheaths
ACT machine use
Assist with peripheral balloons and stents
Assist with thermodilution and invasive monitoring
Assist with IVUS procedures
Assist with interventional radiology procedures
Assist with FFR (fraction flow reserve) procedures
Assist with electrophysiology “EP” procedures
Assist with RF ablations
Assist with cryoablations
Assist with insertion of intra‑aortic balloon pump, maintenance and troubleshooting
Assist with loop recorder insertion
Assist with ICDs and pacemakers (temporary and permanent)
Assist with Spectranetics laser
Synchronized cardioversion and defibrillation
Pain management and follow‑up pain reassessment
Anaphylactic reaction monitoring and kit use
MAC lab system monitoring
Education and Licensing
Associate’s degree in nursing required.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
RN license required.
Certifications
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and EKG required.
Experience
2 years required; 5 years preferred.
Travel experience required.
