Job Description:

Pay Range: $23.11hr - $24hr

• The Phlebotomist II will be responsible for collecting, processing, and handling patient specimens in accordance with established procedures while ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

• Perform blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, and specimen processing.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection procedures clearly and courteously to patients.
• Use straight and butterfly needles for specimen collection.
• Verify and follow physician orders accurately.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Verify test requisitions and computer labels for accuracy.
• Package and store specimens for transport under required conditions.
• Follow specific transport and handling protocols to maintain specimen integrity.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend required annual department trainings.
• Answer phone calls and communicate laboratory results as required.

Requirement/Must Have:

• Valid phlebotomy certification as required by the state of employment.
• High school diploma or GED.

Experience:

• Minimum of 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office applications.

Skills:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
