American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN with a compact or MO license and recent specialty experience for a Level II neonatal ICU night position.
Job Details
- Work in a 5-bed Level II NICU caring for neonates 29 weeks and above, including 34+ week admissions,
- Required to float within scope to well newborn nursery/postpartum and between departments, units, or facilities as needed,
- Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00,
- Patient ratios are typically 1:2-3,
- Weekend requirement includes a minimum of 4-5 weekend shifts and 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule,
- Must cover holiday shifts and may serve as Charge RN as needed,
- Two mandatory on-call shifts required every 6-week schedule,
- Standard NICU equipment includes IV pumps, syringe feeding pumps, phototherapy equipment, incubators, Omnibed, radiant warmers, and telehealth for neonatologist consults,
Job Requirements
- Active MO or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration,
- Minimum of 2 years recent NICU specialty experience, including 1 full year in specialty within the past 12 months and no employment gap over 90 days in past year,
- Certifications required: BLS and NRP; STABLE preferred,
- Experience with blood glucose monitoring, neonatal feeding methods, isolation precautions, IV therapy (central/implanted line care, UAC, UVC), NAS care, and patient/family teaching,
- Must be able to float to postpartum/well newborn nursery as needed,
- Two professional references from the past year required, including one supervisor or higher,
- No local candidates accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility,
- No pending licenses accepted; valid license required at time of submission,
- First-time travelers not accepted,
Additional Information
- Support care for both NICU and well newborn patients, including stabilization and transfer of higher acuity newborns,
- Assist in procedures such as needle aspiration, chest tube placement, UVC/UAC line placement, lumbar puncture, intubation, surfactant administration, resuscitation, and passive cooling initiation,
- Travelers with postpartum/couplet care experience are preferred but not required,
- Expectation to complete required modules prior to start and annually as needed,
- Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted,
- Must not have a travel partner assignment within the same facility,
- Drug screening is required, and candidates must clear MRO review if necessary,
- Scrub color is not specified,
