A prominent international AmLaw 50 law firm is seeking a talented Patent Agent to join their Intellectual Property (IP) - Patents Practice . This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage scientific expertise in a dynamic legal environment, advising cutting-edge clients in the emerging technology sector.
Candidate Profile
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering , Computer Engineering , Computer Science , or Physics with an e xcellent academic record
* 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution
* Experience in data science , machine learning , artificial intelligence , wireless communications , sensors, semiconductors , Internet of Things , optics , or related fields is highly advantageous
* Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and writing skills, with an exceptional attention to technical detail and effective organizational and communication skills
Key Responsibilities
* Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas
* Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors
* Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies
* Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO
* Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management
