Century Group has a great opportunity for a Senior Staff Accountant to join a great non-profit community based multi-service agency. This position requires strong analytical and financial analysis skills with a high degree of initiative and critical thinking. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location. Expected starting base salary $43 to $50 per hour.
Job Description:
* Record general journal entries for reporting purposes, such as accruals, prepaid amortization, depreciation, payroll, cost allocations, intercompany transactions.
* As assigned, reconcile to balance sheet accounts and perform month-end procedures.
* As assigned, review payroll and accounts payable allocations for cost compliance, allowability and allocability.
* Create journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
* Review bank reconciliations to ensure segregation of duties.
* Participate in the implementation and improvement of workflows that facilitate efficient operation and financial management of the organization.
* Support the implementation of financial policies, system improvements and development of grant management systems to meet GAAP and Compliance Funding requirements to maintain internal controls.
Requirements:
* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
* Able to communicate with professionals at all levels
* Able to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences
* Fingerprint and background check required
* Understanding of non-profit financial management and governance
Experience:
* Bachelor's degree required with an accounting/finance focus
* Minimum 3-5 years of full accounting cycle experience to include AR/AP, grants management/billing, GAAP with strong skills in Sage, QuickBooks or comparable accounting software.
* Advanced Excel skills, financial analysis, budget development, project and grant management and internal controls required
* Proficiency MS Office, Google Suite, Slack
* Experience working with diverse, low-income, homeless and/or formerly homeless populations
* Experience with non-profits organization with multiple sites
