Description
The Transit Revenue Clerk is responsible for the accurate collection, counting, recording, and reconciliation of transit fare revenues. This position plays a key role in ensuring the integrity of financial transactions related to fare media, cash, and electronic payments across the transit system.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
* Collect, count and process fare revenues from buses and bus pass vending machines.
* Operate automated counting and sorting machines for cash and coin.
* Reconcile daily revenue collections and prepare deposit reports.
* Maintain accurate records of fare media distribution and returns.
* Assist in investigating discrepancies and reporting irregularities.
* Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit procedures.
* Support inventory management of fare media (e.g., tickets, passes).
* Collaborate with transit operations and finance teams to resolve issues.
* Maintain confidentiality and security of financial data and assets.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in accounting or business preferred.
* 1-2 years of experience in cash handling, bookkeeping, or revenue collection.
* Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
* Ability to operate counting machines and basic office equipment.
* Familiarity with transit fare systems and procedures is a plus.
* Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software.
* Ability to work early mornings (Monday-Friday), weekends, or holidays as needed.
Pay: $17.94 per hour
