Carolina PRG has partnered with a $1B+ Distribution Company that is Headquartered in the Charlotte Metro Area to help them identify a process improvement minded Division Accounting Manager for their largest division.
Position Summary:
The Division Accounting Manager is a key leadership role within the finance organization of a growing, multi-billion-dollar distribution company. This position is responsible for overseeing the divisional accounting function, managing a team of 2-4 accountants, and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting. The role plays a critical part in driving process improvements, strengthening internal controls, and implementing efficiencies to support continued growth and scalability.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Close & Reporting
* Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for the division, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
* Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements prior to submission.
* Analyze results and variances, providing clear explanations to senior accounting and finance leadership.
Team Leadership & Development
* Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 2-4 accounting professionals.
* Establish clear expectations, delegate responsibilities, and ensure adherence to close timelines.
* Support training and professional development to strengthen technical and operational capabilities.
Process Improvement & Efficiency
* Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, streamline workflows, and enhance efficiency.
* Lead or support implementation of system enhancements, automation, and standardization initiatives.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with best practices and company growth objectives.
Controls & Compliance
* Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal control frameworks.
* Support internal and external audit requests by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
* Partner with corporate accounting to maintain consistent accounting practices across the organization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with operations, FP&A, and other business partners to understand drivers of financial performance.
* Act as a trusted advisor to divisional leadership on accounting-related matters.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
* 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including people management.
* Strong experience with month-end close in a complex, high-volume environment.
* Solid understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
* Experience driving process improvements and operational efficiencies.
* CPA or CMA designation is a plus.
* Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or similar operationally complex industries.
* Experience working within a large, multi-entity or multi-division organization.
* ERP system experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
