Substitute Custodian/Kitchen Support

Essential Functions:
* Performs a wide variety of custodial and maintenance tasks around campus including, but not limited to:sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning, scrubbing and polishing.
* Thoroughly cleans and sanitizes restrooms, classrooms, offices, and other assigned rooms.
* Cleans walls, fixtures, appliances, water fountains, windows, and other surfaces, as needed.
* Services soap dispensers, towel dispensers, and similar facilities.
* Moves and adjusts chairs, desks, tables, other furniture, and equipment, as needed.
* Receives, checks, and stores custodial supplies. Maintains inventory and communicates purchasing needs toOffice Manager.
* Gathers and disposes of trash, leaves, and debris, and empties and washes waste receptacles.
* Assists in maintaining a safe and secure campus by immediately informing the Office Manager and/or SchoolLeader(s) of any safety concerns, unauthorized visitors, and suspicious or dangerous activity.
* Maintains security of school campus by locking classrooms, offices, windows, and gates, as needed.
* Identifies and reports information regarding vandalism and theft.
* Reports needed repairs to building hardware, plumbing, equipment, and furniture to Office Manager and/orSchool Leader(s).
* Attends any/all trainings and meetings to stay current on expectations, policies and procedures.
* Follows safety protocols and uses protective equipment/gear in order to minimize the frequency andseverity of work-related accidents.
* Follows safe operating procedures in the operation of equipment and the use of supplies.
* Communicates with parents and students in a respectful manner and tone, that is consistent with theLarchmont Charter School mission and philosophy.
* Maintains reliable and consistent attendance and punctuality.
* Maintain standards of efficiency, practice personal hygiene and proper sanitation procedures in food handling
* Ensure adherence to State lunch guidelines (all servers wear hats and gloves, meals must contain required components, etc.)
* Set up food serving station prior to meal service
* Bring food from kitchen or food storage area to food serving station(s)
* Plate and serve meals
* Monitor food and equipment temperatures at all times
* Enter student names for all meals served in PowerSchool
* Replenish food as needed and maintain clean serving area
* Oversee parent volunteers and train as needed
* Monitor students with allergies and special dietary needs and make modifications to serving and procedures as appropriate to ensure the student's safety at all times
* Monitor the meal area closely to avoid potential health risks, such as allergic reactions, choking and food spills
* Clean the tables and floor of the meal area after the service has ended
* Update Office Manager and Food Vendor as needed with any supply or ordering needs (i.e., too many dropped lunches and need extras)
Other Functions:
* Performs related duties as assigned
* May assist with school lunch program
* Assists in other school programs when necessary
Knowledge of:
Common custodial cleaning methods and techniques; Sterilization and sanitation methods used in custodial work; Common cleaning materials, tools, and equipment; Schedules and operational functions of the school campus to which assigned; Professional skills for collaboration and teamwork with all stakeholders; Written and oral communications skills.
Ability to:
Perform the physical activity involved in common custodial cleaning activities; Operate custodial cleaning equipment; Recognize maintenance needs and report repairs needs; Follow schedules and procedures; Operate two-way radio equipment; React quickly and appropriately in emergencies; Understand and follow written and oral instructions; Work collaboratively and professionally with the Larchmont Schools team; Establish good relations and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
Physical Requirements:
Standing for prolonged periods of time; reaching, walking, bending, grasping and pinching, squatting, twisting or kneeling; climb ladders and stairs; Safely lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds; Work outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
Environment:
Uneven surfaces, noise, quick work pace. Regularly involves working outdoors and exposure to inclement weather and biohazardous waste.

Minimum Qualifications:
(*) High School Diploma
(*) TB Test clearance & DOJ fingerprint clearance
(*) Food Handlers Certification (or ability to obtain)
(*) Previous food service experience desired.
(*) CPR, AED, and First Aid certification
