Everstaff is seeking an experienced Defense Litigation Legal Assistant to support attorneys within a mid- to large-sized law firm handling complex Federal and State litigation matters. This role is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is comfortable managing multiple priorities.
This position plays a critical role in supporting attorneys throughout the lifecycle of litigation matters while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism.

Salary: $70,000-$90,000
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Location: Onsite / Hybrid in Miami, FL

Essential Job Functions
* Collaborate with attorneys and internal firm departments to support litigation matters, including case openings, conflict checks, billing, records management, and related administrative functions
* Maintain strong working knowledge of Federal and State court rules of procedure, including accurately calculating and tracking filing deadlines
* Schedule hearings, court appearances, and client appointments in coordination with assigned attorneys
* Draft, proofread, and finalize correspondence, pleadings, and legal documents with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Manage electronic and paper case files in accordance with firm and court requirements
Track firm, attorney, and client expenses and process reimbursements and payments using applicable software
* Assist with client billing, including entering and editing attorney narratives, tracking billable tasks, and delivering invoices in electronic and paper formats
* Handle incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence; answer, screen, and direct telephone calls and emails
* Ensure consistent physical attendance and punctuality in the workplace
* Perform additional duties as assigned to support attorneys and firm operations
Experience & Qualifications
* Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a defense litigation legal assistant in a law firm environment
* Prior experience supporting multiple attorneys simultaneously is required
* Demonstrated experience working with Federal and State courts
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure while meeting strict deadlines
* Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage a high-volume workload
* Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information to attorneys, clients, and firm personnel
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including advanced proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel
* Experience with law firm case management and billing systems required
* Knowledge of iManage, SmartTime, and Aderant strongly preferred
