The Department employs approximately 2,000 employees.**Description of Work**This position is to serve the needs of the animal owning citizens of North Carolina by providing oversight of the accessioning process, providing consultation to referring veterinarians regarding specimen submission and test result interpretation, assist/oversee the production of educational material for clients and delivery of educational presentation at producer meetings and/or professional conferences. These services are performed at the Rollins Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory.**Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences**Recruitment Range: $79,770-$110,000* Thorough knowledge of the principles and techniques of veterinary medicine which includes pathology, bacteriology, virology, immunology, epidemiology, parasitology, toxicology and therapy.* Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of current livestock management and marketing practices.* Proficiency in conducting diagnostic tests and identifying diseases, assessing results and interpreting findings.* Sound knowledge of zoonoses and reportable/notifiable diseases.* Working knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to livestock and poultry. Ability to read, comprehend, and apply various Federal and State regulations pertaining to livestock and poultry.Any employment offer may be less than the maximum of the range due to salary equity with similarly situated employees or the selected candidate's related education and experience.
