Job Title: Catholic Priest
Location: USAF Academy, CO
Duties:
* Shal Provide daily, weekend and holy day masses and assist with Parish Penance Services as requested by the Active Duty Catholic Chaplain.
* Celebrate Reconciliation 1 hour prior to the Saturday evening services on the weekends the contractor is presiding.
* Provide the Sacrament of Baptism, Right of Christian Initiation (RICA) classes, premarital counseling and annulment advisement as requested by the Active Duty Catholic Chaplain.
* Provide Special Services as needed to include (but not limited to): Lent, Advent, First Communion, Confirmations, Baptisms, Weddings, and Funerals.
* Assist at the Community Chapel as requested on holy days to include (but not limited to): The Solemnity of Mary, Assumption of Mary, All Saints Day, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, and the Nativity of Our Lord, Jesus.
* Possess and maintain all standard qualifications as dictated by Catholic standards to include ordination certificate and Safe Environment Training and Certification from a Catholic Diocese, and shall produce a letter from home diocese giving permission to pursue endorsement with Archdiocese of Military Services.
* Meet with the Deputy Wing Chaplain or designee on a quarterly basis to review and obtain the schedule of services for that quarter, and submit mandatory quarterly reports to the Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS).
* Conduct mass in Latin Rite as required by Active Duty Catholic Chaplain.
* Be at the respective places of worship and prepared for each service no later than fifteen (15) minutes prior to the designated starting time of any service.
* Dress according to business casual standards or in appropriate religious garments;
* Complete the monthly user file for Air Force Chaplain Corps Activity Reporting System (AFCCARS) by the 2nd business day of the following month.
* Behave in due regard to public conventions and morals, and shall not commit any act that could reasonably be expected to degrade the position or the Air Force Chaplaincy.
* Comply with intent and protocols in the US Bishop's Catholic conference charter on Child Protection.
* Maintain confidentiality and be familiar with the Air Force Instruction on Religious Accommodation.
* Comply with Military Rule of Evidence 503. Under this rule, "a person has a privilege to refuse to disclose and to prevent another from disclosing a confidential communication by the person to a clergyman or to a clergyman's assistant, if such communication is made either as a formal act of religion or as a matter of conscience."
* Shall complete privileged communication training annually.
* Use the duty title of Priest while performing services, to include but not limited to printed documents and electronic communications.
* Shall coordinate efforts with chapel personnel and work in a multi- denominational and pluralistic religious environment to include, but not limited to, Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Orthodox, and Islamic faiths.
* Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English fluently.
* In the rare case of an emergency situation when a Catholic Priest is required.
* Shall be available as needed to provide counseling when the active duty Priest is unavailable.
* Shall provide a qualified substitute in the case of non-availability for previously scheduled and agreed upon services one week prior to the event.
