Our law firm client in downtown Tampa is seeking an Insurance Defense Legal Assistant due to growth within the firm. This is an onsite role and parking is paid by the firm.
This role demands a proactive individual who can effectively support attorneys in all aspects of case management, maintain organized files, meet critical deadlines, and communicate professionally with clients, adjusters, and court personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule depositions, hearings, mediations, and other case-related events
- Maintain familiarity with assigned cases including clients, facts, and parties
- Understand and adhere to Judge/County-specific procedures and preferences
- Proofread legal documents and correspondence with accuracy and attention to detail
- Organize and update case files efficiently and accurately
- E-file court documents and manage calendaring based on filings and deadlines
- Process and save incoming mail properly, naming and calendaring as needed
- Ensure compliance with client billing policies and language guidelines
- Process case-related invoices in a timely manner
- Maintain communication with clients and adjusters to update on case progress and notify of key deadlines (e.g., trials, mediations, settlements)
- Demonstrate proficiency in legal and office software programs
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of legal assistant experience
- Strong organizational, communication, and ethical standards
- Knowledge of court procedures and e-filing systems
- Familiarity with client-specific reporting and billing guidelines
