Position Summary
Position assists with technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials. The Stallings Laboratory seeks an energetic and motivated individual to assist with innovative research in microbiology and immunology aimed at developing novel treatments for mycobacterial infections.

Job Description
The Research Technician II will be responsible for evaluating new compounds for antibacterial activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTMs) in bacterial cultures, cell culture, and mouse models of infection. They will also evaluate host‑directed therapies for immunomodulatory activity that improve control of M. tuberculosis in cell culture and mouse models. The position requires working in a Biosafety Level 3 laboratory and with mice (including tissue harvesting).
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Assists with research studies, experiments, and assays, including data collection, preparation of solutions, and setup and maintenance of equipment.
Performs bacterial culturing experiments in a Biosafety Level 3 laboratory.
Performs data entry and maintains research data files.
Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
Complies with safety procedures and maintains required documentation.
Ensures lab equipment and conditions are cleaned and maintained per procedures.
Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and provide standard care to research animals.
Education
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
Certifications / Professional Licenses
No specific certification or professional license is required.
Work Experience
No specific work experience is required.
