Location: Hays, Kansas.
Pay: $28.09 per hour with a $325 sign‑on bonus.
Job Type: Full‑time, In‑person.
Schedule: Rotating shifts – 4 pm–12 am or 12 am–8 am; includes some weekends and holidays as assigned and on‑call rotation.
Responsibilities
Respond directly to real‑time mental health crisis calls in the community, meeting individuals wherever they are.
Provide on‑site, in‑the‑moment support to de‑escalate crises and help individuals find stability; no long‑term caseloads.
Use trauma‑informed de‑escalation techniques to help clients regain a sense of safety, control, and stability.
Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary crisis response team, law enforcement, emergency services, and community partners to ensure coordinated, person‑centered care.
Develop safety plans, identify coping strategies, and connect individuals and families to community resources and ongoing supports after the immediate crisis has passed.
Maintain clear, timely documentation of services and participate in required training for crisis response, trauma‑informed care, and safety procedures.
Qualifications
At least 21 years old.
Must pass drug screen and all required background checks (KBI, KDADS, etc.).
Must maintain a valid driver’s license; MVR will be checked.
Experience in human services (e.g., teaching, childcare, CNA) or a BA/BS degree is acceptable; one year of related work equals one year of college.
Physically and mentally capable of working in high‑pressure situations and responding to emergencies.
Equivalently qualified applicants with one year of related work experience are welcomed.
