The Pee Dee Region of the South Carolina (SC) Department of Public Health is seeking to hire a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver client-centered care to clients in Horry County. This position will work across multiple program areas within the clinic, including Family Planning, Sexually Transmitted Disease/Sexually Transmitted Infection (STD/STI), and Immunizations. This role supports Public Health by promoting wellness, disease prevention, and vaccine safety while upholding agency values and policies to ensure confidential, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.
Clinical Assessment & Care Planning Conduct comprehensive health assessments, develop individualized care plans, initiate appropriate interventions, perform diagnostic testing, and document all care in compliance with agency protocols. Provide education on reproductive health, STDs/STIs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases/Sexually Transmitted Infections), birth control options, and immunizations, referring clients as needed.
Preventive Health Services Provide reproductive and sexual health services including pelvic exams, STI screening and treatment, contraceptive counseling, medication administration, and follow-up care coordination. Support client decision-making with tailored education and counseling.
Immunization Services & Vaccine Management Assess immunization needs, administer vaccines per standing orders, provide vaccine education, and manage vaccine safety and storage protocols. Document all immunizations and follow adverse event reporting guidelines.
Public Health Promotion & Coordination Promote community wellness through early detection, risk reduction, health education, and coordination with healthcare teams and external agencies. Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives and maintain accurate client records.
Emergency Response Assist with Medical Equipment Power Shelter (MEPS) operations and emergency response efforts, maintaining competencies in injection administration, medication delivery, First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and outbreak response.
Professional Development & Additional Duties Maintain nursing licensure and complete required continuing education. Submit reports punctually and support agency initiatives and projects as assigned.
State Minimum Requirements Licensure as a registered nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Agency Additional Requirements Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application may upload an unofficial copy of the transcript as an attachment to the application. Please note that the agency will require an official, certified copy of the transcript or diploma prior to hiring.
One (1) year of nursing experience.
