Overview The Shipping & Receiving Clerk keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments, prepares items for shipment, receives inbound shipments, and stocks them in the warehouse.
Responsibilities
Compare identifying information, count, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Prepare and affix shipping labels (LTL) on packed skids.
Assemble cardboard containers or select preassembled containers.
Post weights and shipping charges and affix postage.
Unpack and examine incoming shipments; reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with the shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
Prepare Bills of Lading (BOL) and labels.
Route materials and goods to departments correctly.
Examine incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure all items are correctly packaged, free of obvious damage, paperwork and labels are correct, and all processing has been completed per company and customer requirements. Enter production information into the SAP system.
Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies; order materials as required.
Operate tow motor or pallet jack to move shipments from the shipping and receiving platform to the warehouse or work area; unload inbound material from vehicles and load outbound material into vehicles.
Perform finished goods and supplies inventory on a quarterly basis or as needed.
All other duties as assigned.
Work Experience
1–2 years in an industrial manufacturing environment required.
Prior forklift or tow motor experience preferred; certification is required.
Proven ability to successfully meet customer and management deadlines.
Education Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); equivalent experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Capabilities
Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
Strong organizational, verbal, and written English communication skills are required.
