About the Position In this role, you'll support the daily financial operations of Maricopa County through a variety of accounting and administrative tasks. From reconciling accounts and processing payments to compiling financial reports and maintaining accurate records, your work will help ensure transparency, accuracy, and accountability in the County's fiscal management.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys organized, detail-oriented work with a focus on precision and problem-solving. You'll play a behind-the-scenes yet essential role in keeping financial systems running smoothly, supporting sound decision-making and efficient use of public resources.

You'll collaborate with departments across the County, vendors, and finance teams to research account issues, process journal vouchers, and audit budget and expenditure documents. Through this work, you'll gain valuable experience in public finance, reporting, and compliance.

We Require

Two years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Clerical Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance Administrative experience

High school diploma or GED

Additional post-secondary education may substitute for up to two years of required experience on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

This position works in Excel every day; strong Excel experience is preferred

Associate's degree in business administration, Accounting, or Finance

Experience in fund accounting and financial systems within a government organization

Experience working with CGI

Job Contributions

Reconciles Park revenue received between the Department Point of Sale System, bank deposits, and credit card transactions

Prepares and processes weekly revenue reports, verifies documents, and prepares and submits Cash Receipt Transmittals

Maintains spreadsheets and databases for revenue reporting history

Resolves complaints and discrepancies associated with credit disputes

This position reconciles year-end financial reports and park cash funds, maintains accurate records of responsible parties, resolves discrepancies, and ensures compliance with County financial policies

Processes accounts payable items, including invoices and requisitions, payment vouchers, and journal entries; maintains purchase order files, contract files and payment files; prepares monthly reports and allocation journal vouchers

Audits payable invoices to verify compliance with contract fee schedule and terms; investigates errors and requests corrections from vendors

Answers phones, processes and updates payments, and provides backup support for preparing and sending monthly billings to ensure timely and accurate account management

Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time

Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions

Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards and noise and vibration
