Program Overview The Linde

Leadership and Technical Orientation Program

(LTOP) is sponsored by Linde’s United States Bulk and On‑Site unit and offers a 52‑week structured curriculum that provides broad exposure to all aspects of plant operations with limited exposure to the broader Linde organization. The curriculum includes training common to operations with opportunities for technical cross‑training. The LTOP is a mentored program; each participant is assigned a sponsor and is designed for those who want to leverage an engineering/technical degree into a management career within the organization.

Key Training Areas Participants study all product line processes (air separation, hydrogen, hydrogen‑carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, helium, rare gases, and standard plants); safety; health and environmental; distribution, logistics and customer service; and operations support functions.

Responsibilities LTOP Engineers will be actively involved in many aspects of their assigned training sites’ activities and support daily operations. Activities may include plant startups or shutdowns, maintenance, project planning and execution, training, problem solving, safety program execution, customer interface, personnel management, efficiency monitoring, product shipping, and scheduling/planning. Specific duties include:

Operate the plant using the control system and physical equipment in the field such as motors, compressors, pumps, instrumentation, and various utilities (electric, water, steam, instrument gas).

Assess the efficiency and operating capability of plant equipment as it relates to energy consumption.

Make changes to operating modes or equipment to optimize efficiency.

Troubleshoot plant process and equipment problems and implement solutions.

Utilize control systems and high‑level advanced controls technology to optimize plant performance.

Train operators in safety and plant operations.

Provide some supervision of plant personnel or drivers, as assigned by facility management.

Monitor compliance with internal Quality Assurance program requirements and initiate actions to correct non‑conformance.

Execute aspects of the Linde Safety Program, including training, documentation, inspections, and correction of deficiencies.

Monitor plant and distribution costs for alignment with budgets and targets for improvement.

Assist plant operations and distribution personnel with day‑to‑day activities (operating the plant, taking readings, performing inspections, starting and stopping equipment, filling product vehicles, performing QA tests).

Execute plant projects per budgets, standards, and facility operating schedules.

Participate in technical sales and business development activities.

Eligibility & Qualifications To qualify, applicants must:

Hold a B.S. in Engineering Technology, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.

Have a 3.0 GPA (or higher) out of 4.0 is highly desirable.

0–3 years of experience preferred; prior internship or co‑op experience preferred.

Possess strong technical skill sets and a positive attitude.

Show adaptability, strong communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships across departmental lines.

Be a self‑starter, able to work independently, and participate in cross‑functional teams.

Manage multiple priorities, drive issues to completion, and obtain results.

Be detail‑oriented and persistent.

Be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Be willing and able to travel to assigned facilities within the region, other regional facilities, and occasional trips to other domestic regions. Travel outside the region is normally not expected to exceed 25%.

Salary & Benefits Pay commensurate with experience, open to salary range $85,000 – $90,000.
