The Payroll Supervisor drives the operational integrity of personnel services for all teammates at the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS). In this dual-function leadership role, you will leverage technical mastery to oversee complex payroll cycles, comprehensive benefits administration, and multi-level regulatory compliance. Duties

Provide guidance regarding human resource/payroll issues to NDCS employees and supervisors.

Supervise the HR payroll assistants including OJT for all newly hired HR payroll assistants at Central Office.

Assist the payroll manager in reviewing journal entries, back pays, and final payrolls for accuracy and completeness.

Maintain personnel files and computer-based HR records/databases.

Develop spreadsheets and databases with complex formulas and tracking.

Assist with orientation of new employees.

Facilitate benefit programs, including open enrollment, qualifying events, loss of coverage, etc.

Process agency overtime report for distribution, and other duties may be necessary.

Requirements / Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience in payroll and/or benefits with proficiency in payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, SAP, or Oracle. Supervisory experience with the ability to lead and develop a team effectively. Familiarity with union contracts. Minimum of 2–3 years of hands‑on payroll experience. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
