Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanic III - Deployed Only
Join our team and take your career to new heights! As an Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanic, you will inspect, service, maintain, test, and store our aerospace ground service vehicles and equipment to support aircraft flight and maintenance operations.
You will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aerospace ground and service equipment (AGE), inspect, test, and operate AGE to determine serviceability and proper operation, diagnose mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions, remove, disassemble, repair, clean, treat for corrosion, assemble, and reinstall AGE accessories and components. Additional duties include providing dispatch services for AGE—positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations—and preparing AGE for storage and mobility deployment. A small component of the role is assisting with Tool Room Crib operations, issuing tools, and maintaining tool programs and inventory.
The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, providing innovative, high‑performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end‑to‑end C4ISR capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training, and complete logistics support.
Job Responsibilities
Periodic maintenance and upkeep of all program AGE, including inspections and replacement of parts.
Issuing tools.
Maintaining tool programs per Flight and Ground Operating Procedures (FGOPS) and any applicable U.S. Air Force standards.
Qualifications You Must Have
High School Diploma or GED equivalent and typically 5 or more years of relevant experience.
A higher‑level degree may substitute for experience.
Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
Exposure to technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
Ability to understand and interpret technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
Experience performing the following:
Periodic government inspections.
Load testing on aircraft jacks.
Periodic inspections and maintenance.
Maintaining AGE equipment records.
Use of multiple tools and their application.
Removal and replacement of parts.
Understanding of the principles of electronics, refrigeration, hydraulics, power generation, reciprocating engines, gas turbine engines, pneumatics, and heating.
Servicing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on motor and engine‑driven generator sets, air conditioners, hydraulic test stands, air compressors, heaters, and similar support equipment.
Use, maintenance, and repair of a variety of hand and power tools and tooling equipment, including familiarity with calibrated tools and test sets; managing tool room, tool check‑out/check‑in, replacing worn tools, and corrosion control inventory.
Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.
Active U.S. driver’s license.
Willingness to deploy OCONUS on an approximate 60/30 rotation.
Ability to meet current DoD and Combatant Command requirements for deployed locations.
Successful pre‑deployment medical assessment.
Willingness to work extended hours, holidays, and shift schedules as required.
Qualifications We Prefer
Formal Technical training.
FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience.
Tool Room Crib Assistant experience.
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the U.S. Department of Defense, or U.S. Military.
