We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail‑oriented
Commercial Metal Roof Inspector
to join our team. The role involves inspecting metal roofing systems on commercial jobs, assessing condition, identifying defects, ensuring installation compliance, and recommending maintenance or repair solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Perform thorough inspections of commercial metal roofing systems, including standing seam profiles and their details.
Identify damage, wear, defects, and improper installation per industry standards and manufacturer specifications.
Evaluate roof components – fasteners, seams, flashings, underlayment, coatings.
Compare installations against architect‑approved shop drawings and note any deviations.
Take detailed notes, photos, and measurements during site inspections.
Prepare clear, comprehensive inspection reports with repair or maintenance recommendations.
Communicate findings with management, warranty administrators, sales teams, and contractors, and verify corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and job‑site protocols.
Stay current with building code changes, safety regulations, and roofing technologies.
Assist with quality‑assurance inspections of new metal roof installations as needed.
Requirements – Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or technical degree in construction or roofing technology preferred.
Minimum 3 years of hands‑on commercial roofing experience, including 1–2 years focused on metal roofing systems.
Experience with roof inspections, reporting, and evaluation processes.
Must pass background check, drug test, and I‑9 verification.
Preferred Certifications & Skills
Valid N.C. REAL ID driver’s license and clean driving record.
Strong knowledge of commercial metal roofing systems and construction methods.
Proficiency with inspection tools (moisture meters, drones optional, measuring equipment).
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
Tech‑savvy with inspection/reporting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Working Conditions
Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
Travel to multiple job sites within a region (company vehicle may be provided).
Must lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and walk on sloped surfaces safely.
