Description Girl Scouts of Utah is hiring a Membership Recruitment Specialist. Do you want to be a part of an organization that makes a difference in the lives of others? If you have strong, inclusive communication skills and enjoy engaging with youth and volunteers, this flexible, part‑time position may be right for you.

Role Details

The position is a PRN (as‑needed) role: work only when needed, rather than on a fixed schedule.

The employee will typically attend 1–2 events per week, averaging 5 hours per week during the active season (February–October).

Hours may vary. No minimum weekly hours are guaranteed.

Current Indirect Service Volunteers are welcome to apply while maintaining their volunteer commitments. Troop leaders in active service roles are not eligible.

PRN positions are part‑time and do not include benefits such as health insurance or paid time off.

Responsibilities

Conduct in‑person presentations at community locations such as events, schools, faith‑based institutions, and libraries.

Lead membership information/registration events, hosting engaging Girl Scout activities for girls and caregivers.

Recruit adults and girls, capture leads, and convert leads using proven sales techniques to support council membership goals.

Coordinate all functions collaboratively with council staff and volunteers.

Requirements

Experience in outside sales, recruiting members, retail, or public relations preferred.

Excellent customer service, public speaking, and presentation abilities.

Computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook and Excel).

Experience and sensitivity in working with diverse people and communities.

Professional, empathetic communication in difficult conversations.

Associate’s degree or 1–3 years of volunteer recruitment experience within nonprofit organizations preferred.

Skills

First‑hand knowledge of the Girl Scout program highly preferred.

Commitment and passion for the Girl Scout mission, with ability to promote and communicate its vision.

Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Ability to travel across all jurisdictions of the Girl Scouts of Utah Council.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with stakeholders at all levels.

Ability to lead group events and engage potential members in conversation.

Ongoing feedback implementation and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.

Collaborative, transparent, and inclusive work approach.

Highly organized, multitasking, and pressure‑bearing, able to meet deadlines.

Self‑managed, initiative‑driven problem‑solving with minimal oversight.

Attention to detail and confidentiality protection.

Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred (not required).

Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and compliance with council automobile insurance policy.
