Position: Engineer – Continuous Improvement (Route Planning)
Locations • Onsite: Coppell, TX or Irving, TX
• Fully remote (nationwide)
Shift Schedule Monday – Friday, 2:00 am – 10:00 am CST
Summary This position supports the Ryder Continuous Improvement culture by performing daily route planning and optimization for dedicated customers across the Ryder network. The Engineer processes orders using automated processes and routing software to produce optimal route plans for execution by the Ryder operating team in a timely manner. The role interfaces with operating teams across the country and collaborates within the engineering team. The Engineer executes continuous‑improvement projects to support broader CI initiatives and learns engineering methodologies through mentorship. Continuous‑improvement activities account for 15‑25 % of time.
Essential Functions
Daily route planning for operating teams, leveraging automated processes and transportation‑modeling software.
Monitor electronic processing of customer order files and routing results.
Produce optimal, executable, multi‑stop dedicated routes based on pre‑determined parameters and customer orders within a defined period.
Plan routes for multiple sessions per day for multiple locations and customers; each session typically takes 1‑2 hours.
Develop competency in engineering methods, Lean tools, and quality standards; apply product slotting, time‑study labor standards, flow optimization, data profiling, and resource modeling to improve transportation operations.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline.
≥ 2 years related experience in the transportation or supply‑chain industry.
0‑1 year transportation experience (Transportation Management, Dedicated, FTL, LTL) – required.
Microsoft Office Suite skills (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) – intermediate level.
Basic knowledge of data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.) and database programming (SQL, DAX). Beginner level; preferred.
Basic knowledge of Lean core tools/processes (5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, problem‑solving). Beginner level; preferred.

Compensation Information Salary: $70,000 – $75,000 annually (salaried). Eligible for annual bonus, commission, or long‑term incentive plan.
