Location McMurdo Station, Antarctica

Wage $729 - $829 per week

Job Summary Currently seeking a Steward Coordinator, Janitorial who will directly supervise janitor staff by organizing tasking, special projects, supply orders and ensuring the team conducts their duties safely, efficiently and with a positive attitude. May also assist the Lodging Manager with other duties as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Task and oversee day‑to‑day activities of Lead Janitors and Janitors, ensuring tasks are completed thoroughly and timely.

Set pre‑season expectations and complete post‑season evaluations of Lead Janitors and Janitors, or as required by the Lodging Manager.

Manage scheduling of Lead Janitors and Janitors and assist with applicable duties as required.

Track physical condition of staff, adjust tasking for light duty and other special requirements as needed.

Fill in for janitorial cleaning runs or at the laundry facility as needed.

Complete room inspections for departing residents to verify rooms are in “Move in Ready” condition.

Coordinate linen runs to collect dirty linens from outgoing personnel for transport to the laundry facility.

Actively seek out and organize special projects (including deep cleans, furniture moving, carpet extraction, and seasonal building opening/closing) to be carried out by Lead Janitors and Janitors.

Report weekly to the Lodging Manager on janitorial tasks accomplished by the Janitors.

Conduct inventories as requested.

Place and track work orders with facilities maintenance.

Research cleaning products utilized by the janitorial staff to ensure proper and safe usage.

Participate in MCI training and drill as determined by supervisor.

Determine janitorial supply needs for upcoming season.

Handle on‑call lock‑out duties and late‑night calls on a rotational basis with other Lodging department staff.

Handle confidential matters (personnel actions, management reports, lodging issues, etc.) in accordance with management policy.

Interact with National Science Foundation, military and other agency officials, over the telephone and in person, in a professional and tactful manner.

Update janitorial manual annually; submit to Lodging Manager.

May be required to perform duties requiring repetitive motion.

Implement and maintain a safe workplace program and ensure safety is the highest priority.

Provide direct support, using staff resources if necessary, to achieve all metrics related to GSC.

Comply with all GSC Environmental Health & Safety, and Quality Assurance requirements and goals; provide documentation as necessary.

Work to achieve GSC goals and contractual commitments.

Lead and motivate the team.

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to move around the facility 75% or more of the time; occasionally required to remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the time. The employee frequently must maneuver themselves to reach products or materials. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to perceive oral and written instructions in the form of text, writing, graphs, charts, and/or video. Qualifications

Education: High school graduate or GED.

Certifications: Current ServSafe Food Handler certificate obtained prior to deployment; valid driver's license.

Experience: Minimum 3 years work experience in custodial, housekeeping, or hotel related industry; one year supervisory experience required.

Computer skills: Word processing, spreadsheets, and database usage.

Previous experience with Station Services in Antarctica may be accepted in lieu of minimum experience.

Citizenship: US citizenship or permanent residency required.
