The Victim Advocate is responsible for providing victim advocacy, crisis intervention, and outreach services to individuals and families affected by sexual assault. The position collaborates with community partners to deliver on‑ and off‑site advocacy, facilitate psychoeducational groups, support the sexual assault crisis hotline, and implement targeted outreach programs. The advocate also provides direct crisis intervention and advocacy, maintains statistical records of activities, and facilitates community outreach discussions and presentations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide direct crisis intervention, legal and medical advocacy, resource mapping, and safety planning via telephone or face‑to‑face for victims of sexual assault and their families.

Participate in evening and weekend on‑call support, which may include answering the 24‑hour hotline and providing medical or legal accompaniment.

Offer advocacy support at hospitals, police stations, courthouses, and incarceration facilities as needed.

Co‑facilitate psychoeducational groups as needed.

Hold office hours at SAVA and/or other community agencies to improve accessibility of services.

Conduct client evaluations and track outcome measurements.

Conduct outreach in Northern Colorado, including organizing presentations, events, booths, and publications to generate awareness of SAVA services.

Collaborate with outreach, advocacy, and prevention education staff to develop educational presentations.

Collect data and evaluate targeted outreach activities.

Identify and attend community collaborative meetings.

Assist in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers for SAVA programs.

Assist with answering phones, processing mail, and general office duties as needed.

Collect and enter statistical data on service provision and prepare reports in accordance with reporting requirements.

SAVA Duties and Responsibilities

Complete 40‑Hour Hotline Training.

Attend staff meetings regularly.

Participate in SAVA‑related events.

Follow established SAVA policies and procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Experience with public speaking.

Ability to provide crisis intervention and advocacy services to victims of sexual assault and their families.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Publisher).

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Fluency in Spanish.

Proficiency in public speaking.

Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.

Experience working with diverse populations.

Experience providing services related to mental health.

Work Environment This position will work in both Fort Collins and Greeley offices.
