About Alan B. Miller Medical Center Alan B. Miller Medical Center will open Spring 2026. It is a neighborhood hospital with state‑of‑the‑art facilities. The campus will feature 150 private patient rooms, a medical office building, a helistop, and 365,000 square feet of hospital and medical office space. Services will include Emergency Care, Orthopedics, Surgical Services, Labor and Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care, Oncology, Cardiovascular and Neurosurgical services, and outpatient services.

Position Overview Physical Therapist PRN. Provides shift‑to‑shift oversight for clinical practice, staffing, patient flow, safety, service, and utilization of resources for daily operations. Maintains the environment of care and delivers competent, efficient patient care appropriate to age. Role models organizational values, provides real‑time feedback, leads department process improvement, and facilitates employee engagement including shared governance participation.

Responsibilities

Provide shift‑to‑shift oversight for clinical practice, staffing, patient flow, safety, service, and utilization of resources.

Maintain environment of care, ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Deliver patient care in a competent, capable, caring, and efficient manner.

Model organizational values and provide real‑time feedback to staff.

Lead or participate in department process improvement projects.

Facilitate employee engagement activities and shared governance participation.

Role and Responsibilities (Additional) The Physical Therapist (PT) fulfills the needs of patients, families, and the community by delivering high‑quality physical therapy services in accordance with state licensure laws, American Physical Therapy Association standards of care, facility policies, and regulatory requirements. The PT manages comprehensive evaluation and goal‑oriented treatment to facilitate maximum independence for patients suffering from disability, disease, or injury. The PT organizes, conducts, and evaluates medically prescribed therapy programs to restore function, prevent disability, and promote optimal recovery following illness, injury, or surgical intervention. The therapist helps patients achieve maximum functional potential, adapt to limitations, and promote safe reintegration into daily life.

Qualifications Education Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Physical Therapy.

Doctorate in Physical Therapy preferred.

Experience

Minimum 1‑3 years experience.

3‑5 years experience preferred.

Skills

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Effective interpersonal skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities.

License / Certification

Current license to practice as a Physical Therapist in Florida.

Current certification of Basic Life Support for Health Care Professionals.

Travel Requirements Travel is not typically required for this position; however, on an occasional basis, and based on operational or staffing needs, employees may be asked to provide coverage at other facilities within UHS.
