ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Accountable to the unit Manager and/or the Director of the department.
Assist Patients to and from activities.
Assist with meals and feeding.
Carry out a plan of activities appropriate to the needs of the patients that includes but is not limited to: group social activities, indoor and outdoor activities, daily walks, spiritual programs, opportunity for involvement in planning and implementation of the activity, exercise activities, one‑on‑one activities, and promotion of unit interaction.
Demonstrate and promote compliance with infection control, legal, and safety standards.
Display professional commitment and support the unit team by promoting unity and teamwork among coworkers by maintaining a positive attitude and positive working relationships.
Document all interaction with patient and/or family.
Encourage family participation in activities and document outcomes.
Organize and prioritize activities considering patient status and preferences, module activities, and other commitments. Complete all assignments in an organized and punctual manner.
Perform duties as directed by a Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
Provide care with sensitivity to the cultural needs of patients and with regard to their rights and privacy. Demonstrate knowledge of the current condition of the patient and recognize situations needing nursing supervision.
Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the Safety Aide provides direct patient assistance with basic daily activities to a group of assigned patients. Assist the RN in data collection and document appropriately to hospital standards.
JOB REQUIREMENTS Education
Minimum required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred (Not required): Completion of Nursing Assistant and/or Patient Care Technician Assistant course
Work Experience
Preferred (Not required): Nursing Assistant and/or Patient Care Technician Assistant experience
Licenses and Certifications
Minimum required: BLS certification
Obtain/possess current Management of Assaultive Behavior certification; may obtain within six months of hire
Pay Transparency The hourly rate range for this position is $21.00 - $24.66. Position Summary Under the supervision of an RN or LVN, provides basic assistance and observation to a group of assigned patients in medical/surgical, oncology, rehabilitation, and transitional care nursing units. Demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the unit and the organization. Applies good interpersonal and communication process utilizing verbal and non‑verbal skills to achieve organizational service goals of customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
