Patient Safety Aide - Sitters - Full Time Nights (11PM to 7:30AM) (Union, Non-Exempt)
Keck Medicine of USC is seeking a Patient Safety Aide to provide basic assistance and observation to a group of assigned patients on medical/surgical, oncology, rehabilitation, and transitional care units during overnight shiftsью (11:00 PM–7:30 AM).
Job Summary Under the supervision of an RN or LVN, the Safety Aide assists with basic daily activities, participates in unit activities, promotes infection control and safety, documents patient interactions, encourages family participation, and collaborates with the nursing team to support patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Accountable to the unit Manager and/or the Director of the department.
Assist patients to and from activities.
Assist with meals and feeding.
Carry out a plan of activities appropriate to the needs of patients, including group social activities, indoor and outdoor activities, daily walks, spiritual programs, and exercise activities.
Demonstrate and promote compliance with infection control, legal, and safety standards.
Display professional commitment, support the unit team, and maintain a positive attitude and working relationships.
Document all interactions with patients and/or families.
Encourage family participation in activities and document outcomes.
Organize and prioritize activities considering patient status, preferences, and other commitments; complete all assignments in an organized and punctual manner.
Perform duties as directed by a Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
Provide care with sensitivity to cultural needs and patients’ rights and privacy; recognize situations requiring nursing supervision.
Assist the RN in data collection and documentation to hospital standards.
Job Requirements Education
High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).
Completion of Nursing Assistant and/or Patient Care Technician Assistant course preferred.
Work Experience
Experience as a Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician Assistant preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
BLS certification (Required).
Obtain or possess current Management of Assaultive Behavior certification; may Эр obtain within six months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of Nursing Assistant and/or Patient Care Technician Assistant course.
Experience as a Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician Assistant.
Pay Transparency The hourly rate range for this position is $21.00 – $24.66. When extending an offer, USC considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, external market and organizational considerations.
