Overview The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle, utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The nurse functions within the organization’s policies and procedures, demonstrates professional growth and accountability, maintains standards of practice, and coordinates patient care activities of all assigned staff to deliver quality nursing care.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient nursing care in the emergency department during night shifts.
Conduct patient assessments, develop and implement care plans, and evaluate outcomes.
Coordinate and supervise care activities with other healthcare team members.
Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with nursing standards and regulations.
Qualifications
Graduate from a nursing program.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
No prior experience required; new graduates are eligible.
Nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred.
At least one year in a hospital setting for PRN positions required.
Licenses and Certifications
RN - Registered Nurse, Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure.
BCLS - Basic Life Support.
Additional Licenses and Certifications
Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum).
Addendum – Specialty Certifications
Cardiac Tele:
ACLS Certification required within 180 days of start date.
Critical Care:
ACLS Certification required within 180 days of start date.
Dialysis:
CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) preferred.
Emergency Department:
ACLS and PALS Certification required within 180 days; experienced ED nurses may have 6 months for PALS.
Infusion/Oncology:
Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification required upon hire.
Pediatrics:
PALS Certification required within 180 days; PEARS or PALS requirement varies by hospital.
Surgical Services:
PreOp/PACU/ENDO/CSU ACLS; PALS if unit cares for pediatrics; BLS required within 180 days.
Women’s Services:
Labor and Delivery-ACLS Certification required within 180 days; additional neonatal certifications required during orientation.
