Job Purpose And Summary

Within our Retail locations, Staff Pharmacists play a critical role by leading and directing the pharmacy team, ensuring safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices, and embodying our values of compassion and patient‑centered care.
Responsibilities
Live our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and oversee the pharmacy as their proxy during bench shifts without overlap, strengthening pharmacy performance measures through effective coaching and consistent follow‑up.
Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following—and directing the pharmacy team to follow—pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails at every workstation.
Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy and genuine care, coaching the pharmacy team to do the same, and proactively resolving insurance and medication issues.
Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, engaging and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
Support the effective management of pharmacy inventory, particularly protecting cold‑chain products.
Partner with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues as needed.
Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic; support the Pharmacy Manager by writing the pharmacy schedule when directed.
Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through required trainings, CMEs, and ongoing learning opportunities.
Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible.
Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS Health policies, controlled‑substance dispensing, record‑keeping, patient privacy, and a safe workplace.
Required Qualifications
Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
Essential Functions
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
Attention and Focus: concentrate on tasks over time, pivot quickly, confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
Customer Service and Team Orientation: act in a friendly manner, notice and respond to patient reactions.
Communication Skills: use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues, practice active listening.
Mathematical Reasoning: use math to solve dispensing problems.
Issue Resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose appropriate solutions.
Physical Demands: mobile and upright for extended periods, lift, scan, bag items, reach overhead, use fingers, lift up to 20 lbs., maintain visual acuity.
Perform duties as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
1‑2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
Ability to work in other locations across the market as business needs require.
Anticipated Weekly Hours 32 hours
Time Type Full time
Pay Range $60.00 – $76.00
per hour (base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary). The actual base salary offer will depend on experience, education, geography, and other factors. This position is eligible for a bonus, commission, or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed.
