Position Summary Our Youth & Family Services program in Salem is hiring a Mental Health Therapist to join our team. The prospective candidate will work in both our Children’s Outpatient Program and our Wraparound Program, providing individual and family therapy, conducting mental health assessments, Wraparound eligibility screens, case management, and clinical consultations. Salary

Mental Health Therapist 1: $29.54 – $39.58 / hr

Mental Health Therapist 2: $35.83 – $48.00 / hr

General Statement of Duties Mental Health Therapist 2

– Provide assessments and treatment of individuals and families, including groups; provide crisis assessment and intervention services and related duties as required. Primary responsibility is to provide assessment and treatment services, crisis intervention, and treatment servicesارع, including intensive services, to individuals and their families with complex needs and diagnoses, and/or to develop and implement specific services in the community.

Mental Health Therapist 1

– Plans and carries out recreational, social and skills training activities; performs case management and counseling functions with consumers and their families; facilitates counseling and/or skills training groups; performs related duties as required. Primary responsibility is case management and counseling, without responsibility for developing and implementing specific programs in the community.

Supervision Received

– Works under the supervision of a supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness.

Exercised

– Supervision of others is not a responsibility of positions in this classification.

Responsibilities

Provides individual and family therapy to children, adolescents and transition‑age youth in Salem and surrounding communities.

Provides intake mental health assessments, including screening for alcohol and drug issues.

Documents services to meet contract, administrative rule and billing requirements, aiming for at least 10 hours per week to be scheduled with therapy, client support, committee work and approved training.

Provides consultation, training and orientation regarding mental health and co‑occurring disorders treatment to team members, student interns and other professionals.

Provides case management services to clients, assists clients and families with accessing community supports/resources and referrals for services.

Provides services at various sites, so driving is required.

Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Response Level In the event of an emergency, the employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work, may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties, may be requested to work an extended or flexible schedule, and must complete Incident Command System 100 and 700 online or in‑person training.

Experience & Training

Possession of a Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Recreational Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, or a behavioral science field; OR possession of a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and licensed by the State of Oregon; OR possession of a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy and licensed by the State of Oregon; OR second‑year graduate student waiver as a QMHP by the Oregon Health Authority.

Mental Health Therapist 2 only: In addition to the above educational requirements, the candidate must have at least one year of full‑time, post‑Master’s experience in the behavioral health field.

Preferences Preference will be awarded to candidates who are LCSW, CSWA or eligible for LCSW. Qualified candidates will be eligible for licensure supervision if hired.

Special Requirements

Must be either (a) licensed by the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors, (b) licensed by the Oregon Board of Licensed Social Workers, or (c) credentialed or registered through the Mental Health and Addiction Counseling Board of Oregon (MHACBO) as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) within the first 30 days of employment. Applicants may be required to pass a practical knowledge and skills assessment as part of the interview process.

Must not be excluded from participation in federal health‑care programs (Medicaid, Medicare and other federally funded programs that provide health benefits) or from participating in federal procurement.

Must possess a current driver’s license in the applicant’s state of residence and an acceptable driving history. The county will obtain a copy of the driving record and review it per county policy.

Must pass a criminal history background check; conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual.

Full safety‑sensitive / special‑needs position: final candidates must pass a pre‑employment drug screen, including testing for marijuana.

Full‑time position eligible for overtime.

Typical work schedule mostramos : Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with one late clinic weekly (10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.) and flexibility depending on departmental needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of community mental health concepts, chemical‑dependency case management and treatment services; individual assessment, treatment planning and treatment protocols; mental health disorders and diagnostic classifications. Ability to establish positive working relationships with other employees, individuals and their families, other agencies and the public; prepare concise and complete clinical documentation; work within a team and collaborate; and act professionally with regard to a code of ethics and confidentiality.

Physical Requirements Operate a motor vehicle; use depth perception; sit, stand, move within the work area; climb one floor of stairs; operate a keyboard; lift, push, pull, and carry up to 5 lbs.; move carts weighing up to 5 lbs.; speak with a clear and audible voice; read 12‑point font; and hear a normal speech level.
