The Edinburg Center is seeking a Controller to oversee accounting functions for a $35 million agency and supervise a staff of four. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is responsible for accounting, financial reporting and billing activities for the organization. This position also works with the CFO for budgeting and planning, financial analysis and certain Treasury functions.
Responsibilities
Oversee the full range of accounting operations including billing, processing A/R and cash receipts, and processing payroll files
Manage month-end Journal Entries and perform monthly bank reconciliations; conduct month-end and year-end close
Oversee the management of the representative payee function for approximately 150 clients
Oversee A/P functions, both for the organization and persons for whom the Center is a Representative Payee
Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
Maintain fixed asset inventories and depreciation schedules
Provide quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and contractual / regulatory requirements
Research technical accounting issues for compliance
Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Coordinate all audit activity, including preparation of appropriate schedulesалии and documentation
Manage organizational cash flow forecasting
Qualifications
Strong accounting skills and supervisory experience
5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
Expertise with accounting software and Microsoft Excelเที่ยว (knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP, a plus)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA or CMA preferred
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
Experience with creating financial statements
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
Nonprofit and/or health care experience preferred
Familiarity with Massachusetts’ Millennials requirements and EIM billing system a plus
Familiarity with Social Security Representative Payee regulations a plus
