Job Description The Operations Technician is responsible for operating field equipment and wells according to established operating and safety procedures. This role ensures daily operational plans are met while working to reduce equipment failure and administer resources efficiently. The position requires strong technical skills, attention to safety, and the ability to monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot field equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in oil and gas operations with a focus on maintaining safe and efficient production.
Responsibilities
Implement daily work objectives including housekeeping, safety, health, environmental, and security protocols
Actively participate in daily toolbox meetings and regular safety meetings
Continuously monitor wells and equipment to identify and implement corrective and optimization actions
Perform as an Equipment Care Technician, routinely using maintenance skills for basic maintenance activities
Report alarm, emergency, or emergency shutdown system outages
Provide detailed, clear, and accurate information during shift changes to ensure operational continuity
Coordinate, control, and monitor maintenance jobs according to corrective, predictive, and preventive planning
Record all relevant operational events and abnormal situations in the log book
Collect product samples for laboratory analysis and perform field laboratory tests as required
Participate actively in emergency response activities
Report incidents internally according to established guidelines
Maintain effective communication with supervisors regarding operational activities
Ensure good team communication so that issues and actions can be adequately addressed
Provide basic information concerning well production problems, current rates, and well conditions
Ensure thorough well problem diagnostics before requesting well work interventions
Maintain wellhead and surface equipment in good working order
Provide assistance and support to ongoing well work operations as needed
Oversee small field crews (2-3 personnel)
Complete required data entry and documentation
Skills and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred
2-3 years' experience in oil and gas field operations preferred
Experience as a Field Technician or Pumper
Strong knowledge of pipeline operations and process flow
Familiarity with well production equipment and operations
Proficient computer skills and experience with data entry systems
Experience overseeing small field crews
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High standard of Safety, Health, and Environment aptitude
Knowledge of emergency preparedness procedures
Understanding of relevant regulations and compliance requirements
Ability to read and interpret technical specifications
Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
Permitting experience a plus
Valid driver's license and ability to work in field conditions
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to work in outdoor environments and potentially variable schedules
Job Details Location: Midland or Midkiff, TX
Pay: $42/hr + truck and tools
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm, no on-call rotation
