Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

FLSA Status: Hourly (non-exempt)
Pay Rate: $26.00 to $40.00 per hour.
SUMMARY Reporting to the Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on all equipment throughout the mill operation. This individual will also be responsible for minimizing downtime by detecting potential mechanical and electrical problems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must have good analytical skills, able to troubleshoot and make on the spot corrections to emergency conditions
Able to climb stairs and ladders and work safely at elevated heights of 200ft and confined spaces
Knowledge of fabrication, electrical schematics, engineering drawings, power transmission, pneumatics, welding, and cutting is necessary
Light Industrial Electric required, Hydraulics, Power Transmissions, Pneumatic; basic computer knowledge; previous feed mill experience desired
Utilize computer programmed batching system to receive and manufacture feed
Maintain required documentation associated with all departments
After appropriate training, operate all process equipment including powered industrial vehicles
Assist in startup and shut down of operations
Assist in troubleshooting of processes and equipment operation and provide input for corrective actions
Perform general housekeeping of production area to meet OSHA standards, as well as a clean and safe working environment
Climb ladders up to 100 feet to perform maintenance and inventory duties
Perform quality duties including but not limited to sampling inbound and outbound loads as well as production paperwork
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Special projects and/or other related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of:
Safety, inventory and maintenance processes and procedures
Computer systems to create spreadsheets is a plus
Technical and mechanical systems related to operation
Ability to:
Maintain high quality control standards; effectively problem-solve, supervise and troubleshoot
Communicate effectively with all levels of staff throughout the organization
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Evaluate employees fairly and objectively
Work flexible hours; on-call availability, OT, and rotating weekends.
Experience and Training Guidelines Preferred:
College coursework in technical field desired
Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in feed mill maintenance, industrial, or a production environment
MS Office – Excel, Word
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize successfully

Constant use of vision; frequent reading

WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in a typical outdoor environment subject to street or field noise and environment including exposure to loud equipment and machinery. Some duties involve working in a typical temperature-controlled office environment subject to typical office noise and environment. Position may require work outside regular business hours, including weekends, holidays and on-call; occasional travel to other company locations.
