Summary Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on all equipment throughout the mill operation. This individual will also be responsible for minimizing downtime by detecting potential mechanical and electrical problems.
Essential Functions
Must have good analytical skills, able to troubleshoot and make on the spot corrections to emergency conditions.
Able to climb stairs and ladders and work safely at elevated heights of 200 ft. and in confined spaces.
Knowledge of fabrication, electrical schematics, engineering drawings, power transmission, pneumatics, welding, and cutting are necessary.
Light Industrial Electric required; Hydraulics, Power Transmissions, and Pneumatics; basic computer knowledge; previous feed mill experience desired.
Additional Responsibilities
Special projects and/or other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of:
Safety, inventory and maintenance processes and procedures.
Computer systems to create spreadsheets is a plus.
Technical and mechanical systems related to operation.
Ability to:
Maintain high quality control standards; effectively problem-solve, supervise and troubleshoot.
Communicate effectively with all levels of staff throughout the organization.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Evaluate employees fairly and objectively.
Work flexible hours; on-call availability, OT, and rotating weekends.
Experience and Training Guidelines Preferred
College coursework in technical field desired.
Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in feed mill maintenance, industrial, or a production environment.
MS Office – Excel, Word.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize successfully.
Special Demands Physical and Mental Requirements
Occasional use of keyboard.
Frequent sitting for long periods of time.
Occasional bending or squatting.
Constant use of vision; frequent reading.
Frequent decision-making and concentration.
Frequent hearing and talking, in person and on the phone.
