Jacobs is seeking a mid‑level
GIS Specialist
to join the Florida Turnpike Enterprises project to support GIS service delivery, field processes (collection, inspection, etc.) and general project support. The candidate should have strong geospatial, cartographic and planning knowledge that is leveraged to design, develop, implement, and test complex GIS applications for the Jacobs FTE project and our clients. The incumbent has thorough knowledge of GIS and geospatial technologies, GIS workload management, transportation infrastructure and general knowledge of other relevant subject areas. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs all conventional aspects of GIS design, management and analysis
Demonstrates excellent data management and analytical skills
Demonstrates a solid understanding of GIS concepts and spatial data as well as web mapping and system design
Demonstrates strong communication skills
Knows and keeps up with industry best practices, standards and emerging technologies
Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of GIS Best Practices, techniques, procedures, and criteria
Provides technical guidance to less experienced GIS users and project management
Works as a technical expert in design, development, implementation and testing of simple to moderately complex GIS applications
Maintains, updates and creates databases and reports for asset management, inspection audits, and routine maintenance tracking
Represents Jacobs and the FTE project at Local, Regional and/or State geospatial events
Performs other duties as assigned
Job Specifications and Scope of Responsibility
Responsible for providing mapping, asset and database management, and field support to meet the business objectives in all divisions and as defined by the client
Maintains project GIS & Asset Management utilizing multiple data sources including ArcGIS Online, shapefiles & services, CAD files, remotely sensed data, public domain data and more
Identifies GIS opportunities to increase data value and reduce business processes and demand while also reducing decision‑making time and effort
Manages data capture, input, update, completion and quality control of spatial data using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, methodology and more
Improves GIS data quality by conducting research (records lookup and other documents) and performing ad‑hoc queries and other methods to identify discrepancies or data quality concerns
Responds to user requests for GIS data, maps, products and other information
Develops workflows and documentation for critical GIS tasks and field work needs. May work with program managers to improve and streamline workflows and document processes
Creates presentation‑quality GIS products including maps, dashboards and other geospatial products as required for the project
Utilizes database and reporting experience with ArcGIS, Excel/SQL and similar applications/tools
Here’s What You’ll Need
BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in Geography, GIS, Planning, Natural Resources, Engineering, or related field
4‑6 years’ experience in an active and growing GIS environment (8‑10 years’ experience may substitute for a degree)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal relationship skills with the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other employees, clients, government officials, contractors, suppliers, and the public
Experience using ESRI applications and tools, including but not limited to ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Experience Builder
Experience building and managing custom Esri Field Maps and field‑crew‑friendly applications
Experience managing data in ArcGIS Online hosted environments
Demonstrated understanding of data organization and management skills
Demonstrated experience managing a demanding workload, prioritizing requests and maintaining clear communication with staff/requestees
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Effective organization and time‑management skills
Ideally, Here’s What You Will Also Have
Use and management of GPS, drones and other field equipment
FAA Commercial Drone Certification
Understanding of government processes and work environment
Experience with Python scripting and other programming languages
