Job Description
The Staff Accountant is responsible for processing day to day accounting tasks of the company. This includes but is not limited to bank reconciliations, cash flow management, expense reporting and processing, period end journal entries and additional related functions. Under the direction of the CFO, the Staff Accountant will work closely with the Controller to ensure the period financial reports are prepared timely, accurately, and in alignment with company standards. In addition to the primary responsibilities, the role involves shared job duties and responsibilities across other entities, including Simply Slims AR and AL.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Review and process Accounts Payable transactions, ensuring appropriate purchasing requirements and processes are followed.
Review and process payroll journal entries and reports.
Reconcile bank transactions and monitor cash balances.
Inquire about any potential errors, omissions, or unusual expenses in all aspects of the financial statement process.
Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
Process various period end journal entries and reconciliations, to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Support year end close processes.
Other projects assigned by the CFO or Controller.
Other Responsibilities (not exhaustive)
Assist CFO and Controller with the following:
Insurance claim filing, audits and reports.
Assist with Inventory controls, counts and processes.
Process certain employee 401(k) transactions and assist with annual 401(k) testing and audit processes.
Calculate sales and use taxes and file all necessary reports and payments.
Prepare annual property tax statements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent.
General knowledge of accounting rules and principles.
1+ years of experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
Fluency in Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn.
Ability to read, analyze, create and interpret general business memos and documents.
Ability to work independently, troubleshoot and problem solve during day to day tasks.
Ability to make good decisions and adapt to changing situations.
Drivers License, a good driving record, and have access to a vehicle.
Physical Demands
Ability to sit for long periods of time on a daily basis.
Occasional driving.
