Job Title:
Fiber Optic Technician – Fayetteville
Description They need the bandwidth to support multiple high profile projects while delivering in the OSP space as well.
Responsibilities
The technicians will be working with other full time team members in commercial or outside plant environments.
The technician will troubleshoot and install low voltage and structured cabling related work.
Day to Day Skills and Experience
Prep and splice fiber optic cables, locate problem areas and perform repairs as needed.
Proficient with fiber connector prep and installation and with fiber test equipment. Initiate test and turn‑up procedures.
Fabricate, assemble, and install cable pathways including cable trays through facilities, trenches and manholes.
Install, splice, terminate and test vertical backbone and horizontal fiber optic and copper cable systems.
Perform fusion splicing and pigtail splicing and installing fiber connectors.
>Install cable in aerial, underground, and inside plant environments. Perform ring/hot cuts.
Install fiber closures, terminations, connectors, patch panels and related materials.
Bond and ground fiber cables according to client specifications.
Read and evaluate OTDR traces to determine whether specifications have been met overall and per event.
Use Pcs corning fusion splicers M-90, X-77, I-LID and opi‑splice LID fusion splicers.
Skills Fiber optic, fiber optic testing, fiber optic splicing, OTDR, troubleshooting, bicsi certified.
Qualifications Must be able to take feedback and training. Ability to follow instructions and take coaching from peers, colleagues, etc. It is important the technician understands that they can be working long hours. PCS wants techs that will become FTE. They believe in promoting from within.
