RN Med/Surg Ortho-Post Surgical
Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice in Medical Surgical Orthopedics.
Reports to: Director Med/Surg Orthopedics.
FLSA: Non‑exempt.
Education & Licensure
Associate's Degree in Nursing – Required.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing – Preferred.
Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi‑state (compact) license).
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of hire and maintained thereafter.
Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action, and computer proficiency.
Essential Functions
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments.
Documents patient care provided.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support.
Evaluates learning needs of patient/family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.
Performs patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice in other nursing units as necessary.
