Radiology Technician – Interventional Radiology – Sign‑On Bonus Ochsner Health is hiring a Radiology Technician to prepare for and assist in interventional radiology procedures. The role requires advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiography, adherence to radiation safety protocols, and effective patient communication.

Key Responsibilities

Verify physician orders and ensure procedural accuracy.

Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate care.

Explain procedures to patients and obtain consent.

Operate imaging equipment independently to complete protocols.

Review images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality.

Perform timely quality control per regulatory standards.

Assist with departmental operations such as inventory, scheduling, and equipment maintenance.

Adapt communication style and respect patient privacy according to population needs.

Perform any other related duties as required.

Required Education and Experience Completion of an approved radiologic technology program. No prior work experience is required, though interventional radiology experience is preferred.

Certifications and Licenses

Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR eligible for ARRT registration within 90 days of employment; a temporary state license is required.

Current unrestricted state license in practice location.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred: Advanced Certification in Vascular Interventional Radiology.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs)

Proficiency in computers, software, and web‑based applications.

Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Physical & Environmental Demands Medium work conditions: occasional lifting of 20–50 lbs and frequent lifting of 10–25 lbs. Frequent exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and bodily tissues. Regular interaction with patients and potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications. Routine activities may involve walking, standing, and operating equipment in a patient‑care setting.
