Job Summary Responsible for carrying out the instructions of the Director of Wellness and supervising nursing staff to ensure the highest quality care. Accountable to the Director of Wellness/Executive Director for all nursing department activities and maintaining the corporate philosophy of quality care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise HHAs, CNAs and facility staff.
Make daily rounds of Assisted Living residents and retirement residents when needed.
Observe and report symptoms and conditions of patients to the Director of Wellness, R.N. or Physician.
Administer medications and treatments per signed doctor’s orders accurately and safely, monitoring effectiveness and reporting to the physician if necessary.
Inform the Director of Wellness when supplies and equipment are needed and order medication from pharmacy as required.
Supervise the Home Health Aide to ensure that all nursing care is given properly, safely, and of the highest quality.
Administer emergency first aid.
Ensure that daily assignments for patient care and incidental duties, performed by nurse and HHA as outlined by the Director of Wellness, are carried out. This includes documentation such as vital signs, weights, nurse’s notes, medication charts, and other records.
Maintain cleanliness and neatness of the nurse’s station, medication room, and cart.
Assist in orienting new staff.
Complete admission and discharge evaluations as necessary.
Check equipment for cleanliness and condition.
Provide guidance for nursing assistants and promote good interpersonal relationships with residents, visitors and personnel.
Perform related work as required per assignment, understanding duties and responsibilities for both assisted living and independent residents throughout the facility.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program, currently licensed to practice in the state.
Work experience in the geriatric field.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Courteous demeanor towards visitors, staff and residents.
Ability to lift, push, pull up to 60 lbs.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
Professional appearance, good grooming, personal hygiene and punctuality.
Warm, friendly, congenial personality with an empathetic attitude toward seniors.
Ability to assess a resident’s condition and intervene when needed.
CPR certified, or able to obtain certification within 90 days of hire and renew annually.
Consent to have a picture taken for internal and external community advertising and to be video recorded by family-installed devices.
