Job Purpose And Summary

As a DSP, you cover pharmacist scheduling gaps, support pharmacy teams under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager and Rx District Leader, and oversee pharmacy operations across the district.
Responsibilities
Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
Traveling the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator and serving as Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts.
Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and directing the pharmacy team.
Assuming Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when acting as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the team, and resolving insurance/medication issues.
Offering and delivering immunizations and supporting pharmacy technicians to learn immunization skills.
Managing pharmacy inventory with best practices, focusing on cold chain protection.
Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs while maintaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging team.
Maintaining relevant clinical and technical skills and actively seeking knowledge to support patients.
Supporting access to care and providing pharmacist‑delivered clinical services such as testing and prescribing.
Understanding and complying with federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS Health policies, including controlled substance dispensing.
Required Qualifications
Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
Essential Functions
Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing.
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
Attention and Focus
Concentrate on tasks for extended periods.
PIVOT quickly between tasks.
Confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
Customer Service and Team Orientation
Look for ways to help people in a friendly manner.
Recognize patient reactions and respond appropriately.
Communication Skills
Use verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues.
Practice active listening and ask appropriate questions.
Mathematical Reasoning
Use math to calculate dosages and supply requirements.
Problem Resolution
Identify challenging interactions and choose best resolution.
Physical Demands
Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods.
Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead or stretch.
Move fingers repetitively; handle small parts.
Lift up to 20 lbs occasionally; 10 lbs frequently.
Use spoken communication for detailed instructions.
Any additional tasks as directed by supervisor or manager.
Preferred Qualifications
1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
Pay Range $60.00 – $76.00 per hour (base salary). The range is the base hourly rate or full‑time annual salary; additional compensation may be eligible.
Anticipated Weekly Hours 40 hours
