Overview
A substantial part of the 200‑acre Viking Lakes mixed‑use development, this destination is home to the Minnesota Vikings headquarters, Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center and TCO Stadium. The location is easily accessible from downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, the Mall of America and airport, with additional uses for the planned development to include corporate offices, retail, restaurants and entertainment.
The 320‑room luxury hotel features more than 35,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and pre‑function space, including a 7,500‑square‑foot ballroom, a 4,410‑square‑foot event center and six two‑story hospitality lounges for groups and meeting planners to utilize. From small board meetings, conferences and large galas or special events to Sunday football tailgates, the Omni Viking Lakes Hotel accommodates groups of all sizes with its robust meetings offerings, multiple food and beverage venues, a signature spa and state‑of‑the‑art fitness facilities.
Job Description Omni Viking Lakes Hotel is seeking a Leader in Development in our Rooms Division. This position is for someone who wishes to make hospitality their career. The Leader In Development (LID) program is a Management Training Program for entry‑level candidates with an Associates Degree or equivalent to develop their management skills by training them in all aspects of Housekeeping and Rooms Division operations. The person selected will spend a portion of their time working in other departments of the hotel. This position is intended to last for one year, so candidates must be able to relocate upon completion of the program.
Salary for this position starts at $52,000-$57,000 OEM. Full Time. Associates at Omni Viking Lakes are entitled to elect the following benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision and other healthcare benefits, Paid Maternity Leave, 401k and Paid Time Off Accrual. Omni Viking Lakes reserves the right to pay more or less than listed compensation scale based on factors not related to sex or race. Responsibilities
Effectively perform job functions of various front‑office, guest services, reservations and housekeeping positions; complete LID learning contracts and perform assigned management functions to aid in development initiatives.
Schedule appointments with contract resources and complete monthly LID progress reports.
Be familiar with housekeeping systems and equipment; include daily reports and PDQ standards; execute room inspections per standards.
Familiar with all systems and equipment related to the Front Office (Opera, Nucleus, GoConcierge, Synergy, Vingcard Vision, Two‑Way Radio Dispatch, ISD Firepanel).
Understand hotel rate plans and rate codes; execute rate strategy when making rate changes for guests.
Assist with initial and continued training of all line‑level front‑office associates – conducting MOS audits and on‑spot coaching.
Assist with shift coverage when staff call‑offs.
Represent the Omni Brand and Culture; reinforce and train associates on Power of One and Power of Engagement principles.
Engage with guests and hotel associates; demonstrate and reward Power of One behaviors.
Support a positive work environment of employee growth and development, interdepartmental teamwork and exceptional customer service.
Adhere to service recovery process for guest requests and concerns.
Be familiar with front‑desk procedures: check‑in/check‑out, cash handling, parking validation, folio adjustments, payment procedures, room blocking, AM/PM checklist, etc.
Maintain Four Diamond Standards of guest service.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree required, preferably in Hospitality Management.
Previous hotel experience, preferably in a leadership role.
Must be available to relocate after completion of the program.
Previous Housekeeping or Rooms Division experience preferred.
Willing to work 50 hours per week; flexible schedule required to include nights, weekends and holidays.
Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods; lift up to 40 lbs and push/pull/carry up to 75 lbs; frequent bending, squatting and reaching overhead.
Self‑motivated with ability to manage deadlines.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
